Purpose Of The Website

VisionLighter is the personal website and professional home base of Sean Lum — a developer, consultant, and cybersecurity specialist based in Portland, Oregon. With a strong background in information technology and hands-on experience across a wide range of systems and environments, Sean created VisionLighter to provide clear, effective digital solutions for small to medium-sized businesses and non-profits looking to grow securely and sustainably.

At VisionLighter, the focus is on helping organizations increase productivity, reduce technical debt, and improve business continuity through smarter tech choices. From cybersecurity consulting to web development, cloud architecture, and digital marketing, Sean offers approachable, dependable guidance tailored to the needs of each client. He brings experience with platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and general web hosting, making it easier for teams to manage and scale their operations.

Looking ahead, Sean is hoping to grow VisionLighter into a collaborative hub where other like-minded professionals can join him in offering high-quality digital services and consulting. Whether you’re a business looking for support or a professional interested in working together, VisionLighter is a space where smart technology meets real-world impact.

What I work with

Sean can write software in C, C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP, TypeScript, JavaScript, and a few other languages. Sean can also analyze many forms of software. Since 2008 he started with websites written in HTML, CSS2, and JavaScript or EMCA5. Since then he has learned LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) full stack development. Then after that he learned ASP.NET websites in C#. He can also write scripts in Bash, CMD, and PowerShell. He also knows databases pretty well. Having worked with MySQL, PostgreSQL, PLSQL, MSSQL, T-SQL, NoSQL, SQLite, and also MongoDB, HBase, and GraphQL. He has written binaries in C/C++ on Linux, Windows, and MacOS. He is familiar with standards like POSIX, USENIX, LSB, and Win32. He enjoys writing command-line utilities in Python the most. If you want to see some of the public projects he has worked on, go check out https://visionlighter.com/projects/. Or you can checkout his GitHub at https://www.github.com/kalanik0a.

In addition to client work, Sean actively studies topics in cybersecurity — from malware analysis to red and blue team tactics — ensuring his approach stays current with the evolving threat landscape. This commitment to ongoing learning means the solutions he provides are not just functional, but resilient and forward-thinking. At home, he frequently works with the following environments: Windows 11, MacOS, Ubuntu, Fedora, SIFT, Flare-vm, REMnux, Kali Linux, and sometimes others. He also experiments with Android Virtual Devices, and some live boot operating systems.
