First Blog Post
This blog post is here to set the general tone for upcoming posts, and explain why the blog is here. This blog is for technology, tutorials, tools, and possibly security-related news. I’ve been around technology work for about half of my life now, and its good to have information to go to. Topics will range from Web Design and Development to Cybersecurity and PC Technical Support. Currently, there is no projected release cycle planned for blog posts. But I will try to make posts regularly.
Lately my tech projects at home include AWS, Azure, Windows 11, and Web Development. And I’ve been reviewing certifications like Azure Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practicioner, Security+, and Network+. Almost every day, there is something new to cover. It is tempting to write some posts talking about those subjects. I may put up a list of tools which I’ve been working with on my day to day.
Most of my programming involves PHP, Python, JavaScript, and other languages like Java, C#, and C. And I generally have been using WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), Windows PowerShell, CMD, and Bash for most of my work. I also write software using Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio Community Edition, VMWare Workstation, and code editors like vi, vim, and nano (sorry emacs fans).
I have a lot of familiarity with C and Open Source technologies. I review open source content frequently for fun, and I like to study how old systems run. In my collection of books are:
- Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment (Stevens)
- The C Programming Language (first and second edition)
- UNIX Network Programming Vol I/II (Stevens)
- The UNIX and Linux System Administrator’s Handbook (Nemeth, Snyder, Hein, and Whaley)
So, eventually there will be some blog posts encompassing these subjects and more.
